Collection History

Collection I: Abrasion

Collection 1, titled "Abrasion" was heavily influenced by themes of fencing and 17th Century organised dueling.

The collection takes form through references from Nicoletto Giganti (perhaps one of the greatest fencing masters of all time) and one of the most influential texts ever written on the sport of fencing, "Scienza d'Arme" by Salvator Fabris.

Both Salvator and Nicoletto wrote their respective works in 1606 and the influences of both pieces transcend time, as they laid the groundwork for modern-day organized duelling.

The collection is named "Abrasion" due to the inherent nature of sharp objects. Nails, barbed wire, and blades permeate the collection inducing a level of apprehension and danger. The items are intended to provide safety and defence while also being abrasive to on-lookers. These items are intended to age with time, adding an antique and historical aura to the collection.
